Recently got back from my Holiday in Cancun, Mexico with my parents late last week after nearly a full day of travelling across different time-zones!
Finally gotten over the jet lag and settling back into normal routine so time for a long due update to show you guys some of the stuff I churned up whilst I was away! :)
Some sort of Aviator Feline I drew during the flight there, had planes on the brain but no idea where cats came into it. Still something to 'Paw' over later! ;)
View from one of the hotel loungers during the first day of sunshine. Those parasails where running all during the trip so I got pretty used to seeing a smile fly by in the sky!
Snippet of a couple of the hotels in the distance on our strip of beautiful Mexican beach. Couldn't believe how many hotels they've packed onto it! Even so, it was pretty peaceful apart from the occasional "HHHHUUUURRRRNNNN!!" from the conch shell seller!
Evening sketch of the Bar from the main lobby area. Loved drawing on those big lounge chairs, enough room for me, my materials and even a hippo or two! ;) Why a hippo? Cause I can't think of a big mexican animal!
Some sort of Mer-Girl I doodled one day before dinner. Loved using my watercolour pencils whilst I was away, they were great for adding some splashes of colour! :)
Some doggy doodles! Think Space dog is probably my favourite, though I do like hotdog dog.
Got my hands on some Prismacolours in Cancun WallMart! Super chuffed about that as they're considerable cheaper without the postage costs to the UK from USA! Drew a Caribbean...Hawaiian..girl.. comparing coconuts to try them out....Brain....you're weird...
Had to surrender my sketchbook to them to all have a look, but it was great to hear their reactions and thoughts! Mexicans are some of the friendliest people ever! :)
Decided I wanted to sketch one of my characters vacationing at the pool side, so I started this picture of Pepper whilst on a sun lounger bed and worked on and off before finally finishing it at home! :) Not sure his snoring would have be welcome to the other hotel guests... All in just watercolour pencils so looking forward to mixing them together with different media!
This two headed feline was sketched during the surprisingly shorter flight home back to rainy old England. Possible nemesis for Pod Dog from my Spacer Jason and Pod-Dog Series...We'll see..
Seriously thought thinking about it now, what was it with me and drawing cats whilst airborne?!
I suppose I ought to mention it too, I got to experience one of the dream holiday experiences of Swimming with Dolphins, bottle nosed to be exact! :) This little guy's called Solomon if I recall! It was a very special experience for me, definitely one of the highlights of the trip! :)
Right now I feel like I've got you guys up to speed, I'm going finish watching Laputa, Castle in the sky!
Laters! ;)
(Oh yeah, and the Lagoon on the opposite side of the hotel was crocodile infested...Thanks for the warning Thomas Cook Rep...)
